Out of the Box with Mr. Knits: More on the Move from eBay to Here

Replacing an online store active for over 20 years is no small matter! But fortunately, I have some web design experience, including on our current platform. We want our clearance store to be similar to our main store anyway. We certainly want the same excellent service there!

So I sent Mrs. Knits away to Chicago for the H+H Americas Craft show, and then a staycation, while I went to work. Here are some more details as I am starting to sort things out:

• Not all items will go from eBay to this Clearance store. For one, some of our sock yarn will get a main store category. I think we should call it a Sock Hop, but that’s a tough sell to Mrs. Knits. 😊

• Along the same lines, publications will get their own welcome page (already live) and their own categories. We already have patterns available for download here. Books and magazines are coming here soon.

• The pricing structure will be different, mostly due to free shipping across the board on eBay, but not here. We will use the same shipping policy here: To all areas served by the US Postal Service, $5 flat shipping charge for all orders below $40. So as an example, Noro Magazines have a retail price of $9.95. So on eBay we set the price at $11.95 to partially cover shipping, with quantity discounts for 3+ magazines. Here we’ll set the price to $10.00, which will be higher for one magazine, but lower for 4+ magazines, when free shipping kicks in (and that’s also the reason for $10.00 and not $9.95, because like you, I hate when I am pennies short of free shipping). 😊
