The story is that 3 years ago Noro commissioned the Haunui Sheep. Since then they have added a Haunui Silk Blend and a Haunui Cotton. HAUNUI is a fusion of New Zealand Halfbred and Fine Romney stock, line-bred for generations to ensure the very highest quality. The sheep are never mulesed. From New Zealand, the fleece is exported to NORO, in Japan, where it is lovingly carded and spun. With great respect for the wool’s natural qualities and as per Noro’s exacting standards, fleece is never over processed.

Mrs. Knits is obsessed with the Haunui Silk. The colorblock Akoroa Scarf Kit drew her attention to the interesting 3 color block design with cables. She choose to free-form it by using the color pattern but altering the cables into a simple 6 sts x 6 row cable twist design. More photos to follow.
